From the East
―Personal Message from Worshipful Master Mort Larsen
My Brothers,
First and foremost, let me extend a hearty and a well-deserved thank you to our Junior Past Master, Don Prewitt, for a fantastic year in 2004. Don, you did a fine job governing our lodge, and it was a pleasure serving as you Senior Warden.
Next, I want to thank all of you for electing me Master of this truly exceptional lodge of ours. We have built it together, patiently and steadfastly, over many years. We have established many worthwhile traditions that reinforce the best expression of Masonic purpose and vision. We have every reason to be proud of our fellowship among the brethern, our long-standing service to the community, and our perseverence in extending brotherhood as broadly as our cabletow allows. It is an honor and a privilege for me to serve as Master this year alongside an outstanding line of fellow officers.
Congratulations to our newly elected and appointed officers. I look forward to working with you. I take this office very seriously, as I have every station, place, and office that I have previously served in. I will continue to build upon my Masonic experience along with the insight and light that I have received from Past Masters during my advance in the lodge. My goal is to continue the legacy of our lodge as the PREMIER LODGE in our district and beyond. We have accomplished many of the goals that we have set for ourselves, and we have enormous momentum behind us, my brothers, to seize upon the LIMITLESS possibilities that lie before us. I look forward to accomplishing as much as we can togerther.
Please contact me, as the need arises, for anything in your search for more light in Masonry. My door is always open to you whenever necessary.
Fraternally,
Mort Larsen

—Personal Message from Senior Warden Scott Anderson
I never thought that the day would come when I would be an elected officer in any organization, let alone one as significant as the Masons. When I joined the Lodge six years ago, my only thought was to become a Master Mason so that I could be a Rainbow Dad when my daughter became a Worthy Advisor. That time has come and gone swiftly, and now I am only a year away from sitting in the East myself.
I am happy with the decision that I made to join, in spite of all the coaxing that it took my daughter to get me here. I am delighted to have had the opportunity really to get to know all of you, and I am equally glad that you will be here to support both me and the rest of the officers during the next two terms and beyond. Thank God for secret handshakes and fraternal brotherhood.

—Personal Message from Junior Warden Dean Markley
I would like to thank each of you for your confidence and the wonderful opportunity that you have provided me in electing me as your Junior Warden. In the upcoming year I look forward to serving you and the Lodge. As we look toward the East for guidance and fellowship, we can also look forward to a fun and exciting year. Worshipful Master Mort Larsen has worked hard in planning this year’s events and activities. Let us give him our fullest measure of support and cooperation, which he richly deserves.

The end of the year is always a busy time for the lodge secretary. Dues statements for 2005 have been mailed. Required reports to Grand Lodge have been submitted. Supplies for our newly initiated brothers have been ordered.
Many of you have already sent you dues. If you are one of these brothers, thank you. If sending your dues is still on your do list, it would be helpful to send them in today and scratch the item off your list. The lodge saves postage by not having to send reminders throughout the year. As many of you know, life members and 50-year members are not required to pay annual dues. In spite of this, many of you who are in this category have sent very generous voluntary donations. We have received well over $1,000 to date. This generosity helps the lodge inasmuch as over 50% of our membership is not required to pay dues, and annual dues is the lodge’s primary source of income. On behalf of the lodge, let me extend its gratitude for your thoughtful contributions.
Several address changes have been received. Our membership seems to continue to relocate to the southern part of the United States. Please continue to keep the secretary advised of your whereabouts. Remember, the postal service will only forward your mail for a year. You may easily notify us of any changes by send an email. And speaking of e-mail, if any of you would like to be added to the lodge’s e-mail distribution list, just let me know.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your secretary. To our out-of-state members who haven’t attended a lodge meeting for a while, stop in when you can. Don’t be concerned about successful entrance into the lodge. If you feel that you are a bit rusty, there are several of us who would be most pleased to give you a quick refresher course.
First Quarter Stated Meetings
In January the Worshipful Master will outline his program for 2005 and review the lodge budget for the year.
February’s stated meeting, as mentioned under the schedule-of-events heading, will include a potluck dinner and “Brother Bring a Friend.” This program is a good introduction for prospective members. Bring your non-Masonic friends. For the potluck, last names A-J bring main course, L-R dessert, S-Z salad or fruit plate.
The March stated meeting will include an official visit from the District Deputy Grand Master and a Masonic education lecture on the Meaning of the Columns.
